9/26/18 Science!

This week in science we did different things the first day we learned about the mimicking octopus and what types of animals it mimics like it mimics the poisonous flat fish and if its getting attacked then it puts its six arms down a hole to look like a poisonous sea snake that has bands along its body. It also mimics the poisonous lion fish. we also talked about adaptation and Harper found a baby snapping turtle and we talked about its adaptations like how it uses its shell to hide and it has sharp claw and sharp teeth, and they have webbed feet to help them swim.

Later in the week we each had to make a slide about what we were assigned and here it is.

9/24/18 Science week

At the beginning of the week we learned about atoms and how they can be transferred  to different organisms. For example a fox eats off a dead cardinal that fox has that cardinals atoms , then when a fox goes to eat some berries the fox breathes on the other berries and gives the cardinals atoms to the berries. Then a human comes along and picks the berries that has cardinal atoms on them  and eats those berries now that human has the cardinals atoms. At the end of the week we went to Loc. I was not there the whole time but we did the rock wall then we played gaga ball, and had dinner. After dinner we went to the sand dunes and played some games up there.

9/16/18 Dam it

Yesterday we played a game called dam it. We started out by Shane putting the hose by the water. Then we built little houses and other buildings and Shane turned on the water and we could not touch anything for three minutes, it was so tempting to touch the blocks and move them around. Then after those long… 3 minutes we finally got to move sand and blocks around. We made a main river down to the water and I learned why people fight over water because Josie was also trying to make another river down to the water and she was taking our water so we had to make a solution about that. Something that I learned is that where the sand is thinner the water flows faster, also that fast flowing water can make dams very easily. One thing that Shane told us is that farmers dig very deep pits and put pig poop in them and it makes this very gross pig slime, and farmers are trying to move the pig slime because hurricane Florence will blow it everywhere and it will get all over buildings and the farmers would get charged fines.

Rivers cause a lot of erosion because water can move sand and dirt around easily. I learned that the United states is taking water from the Colorado river and it is starting to dry up before it evan gets to Mexico, because of theUnited states.
